Tony Currie

TONY_low[1] Tony Currie does not limit himself to the constraints of conventionalism. He seeks to find the idiosyncrasies of the world around him and uses movement as a medium to express an engaging product.Having trained extensively in gymnastics, acting, music (vocals), hip-hop, break dance, sports-aerobics, jazz (Directions Dance Academy), and more extensively classical ballet and contemporary dance (Terry Simpson Studios), Tony is an adept, versatile, and assertive performer.Tony graduated from Adelaide College of the Arts in 2011 with a BA in Dance and the highest possible final semester result of High Distinction.Whilst studying Tony has performed in various works for choreographers including Leigh Warren, Garry Stewart, Jonathan Taylor, Lisa Griffiths, Zaimon Vilmanis, Peter Sheedy and Tobiah Booth-Remmers.Upon graduation from LINK Tony will be engaging in many professional development opportunities both in Australia and Europe. In 2013 he will be working on a project with Alison Currie.

Kasey Lack

KASEY_low[1] Kasey began dancing at an early age at Dance Plus studios in Melbourne, training in various styles and completing exams with The Southern Federation of Dance. In 2006 she was the recipient of the Christie Gambera Memorial Dance scholarship and went on to complete her degree and graduate from the Victorian College of the Arts, the University of Melbourne in 2010. During her time at the VCA she performed works by renowned choreographers including Neil Adams, Sandra Parker, Rebecca Hilton, Wendy Houstoun, Anna Smith and Lina Limosani. After graduating in 2011 Kasey continued teaching contemporary dance, wrote reviews for Dancehub magazine and spent three months overseas travelling through Europe. Kasey is excited to be working and performing with the talented choreographers and other members of LINK Dance Company in 2012.

Emma Marren

EMMA_low[1] Born in Perth, Emma began her dance training at Irina Asotoff Ballet School before being accepted into the specialist ballet program at John Curtin College of Arts in 2004. During this time she was the recipient of both AICD and Kira Bousloff scholarships. Emma completed her Certificate II in dance at WAAPA in 2008. In 2009 she moved to Queensland to continue her training at Queensland University of Technology, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance Performance) in 2011. During this time she performed works choreographed by many renowned choreographers including Zaimon Vilmanis, Csaba Buday, Natalie Weir, Richard Causer, Tim Farrar and Rhiannon McLean. In her final year at QUT she had the opportunity to perform and collaborate with Expressions Dance Company. In 2011 she toured to China to participate in the Guangzhou Modern Dance Festival in which she worked with choreographers from around the world. She is excited to be a member of LINK Dance Company in 2012.

Catherine Ryan

CATHERINE_low[1] Catherine grew up in North Queensland, training at Croft-Gilchrist School of Dance and performing with Extensions Youth Dance Company, North Queensland Opera and Musical Theatre Company, La Luna Youth Arts and Cobwebs Youth Theatre Company. She moved to Brisbane in 2008 to study towards a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance) at Queensland University of Technology. Throughout this time she has also been working with Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre Company, Vulcana Women’s Circus, Tami Dance Company (Israel), Urban Ignition Youth Dance Company and independent choreographer Claire Marshall. Catherine has toured to South Korea, China, New Zealand and throughout regional and metropolitan areas of Australia.

Matthew Tupper

MATTa_low[1] Matthew commenced his dance training at the age of 5 studying classical ballet in Penrith and continued on and off after moving to Canberra. Having completed his year 12 exams he continued his contemporary and classical training at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts graduating in 2011. During his time at WAAPA he has performed works choreographed by Kim McCarthy, Amaury Lebrun, Jo Funaki, Natalie Weir and worked with Choreologist Eve Lawson in George Balanchine’s Serenade. Matthew has also choreographed a work titled Datum that featured in the 2011 student works season at the Dolphin Theatre. His time in Perth has seen him perform with the West Australian Ballet in their 2010 season of The Sleeping Beauty Choreographed by Marcia Haydee and their 2011 season of John Cranko’s Taming of the Shrew. In February of 2011 he was invited to perform with Alain Platel’s les ballet C de la B Out of Context – for Pina in the 2011 Perth International Arts Festival, an intervention staged by Michael Whaites. In October of 2011 he performed in the opening ceremony for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in a work choreographed by Andries Weidemann.Matthew has recently finished a season with Barking Gecko Theatre Company’s Driving into Walls for the 2012 Perth International Arts Festival and will continue his professional development throughout this year in LINK Dance Company.

Jochen Kool

JOCHEN_low[1] Jochen started dancing at the age of 12 with breakdance. Breakdance wasn’t enough and went to Albeda dance college, to be trained in commercial hip-hop. During this 4 year education he did numerous shows with the team set up by the education. Afterwards he craved for more and auditioned for The school of arts in Amsterdam. After 2.5 years of successful training, Jochen did  6 shows with one lead role as a rapper and 2 major internships. One of them with Paul Selwyn Norton for cadance festival 2011. The other one was with the dutch hit musical ‘daddy cool’ which toured all over Holland. Jochen has set foot in Australia to explore and develop more dance skills through out 2012 with LINK Dance Company.

Joshua Pether

JOSHUA_low[1] Born in Mt Isa, Joshua started training in ballet at the local ballet school from the age of 6. Later on in life when he moved to Brisbane he went to go to a local dance studio called Mad Dance where he trained in ballet, contemporary, hip hop and jazz; contemporary being the main focus of his training. In 2010 he was accepted into the Diploma course at the Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts (ACPA). There he was fortunate enough to work with choreographers such as Elise May, Penny Mullen, Gail Mabo and Richard Causer. He was also fortunate enough to present his own work for the ACPA dance graduation held at the Judith Wright Centre in 2011. That same year he graduated with his Advanced Diploma in the Performing Arts and was accepted into LINK dance company. Joshua also has a degree in pharmacy.

Georgia Pisconeri

GEORGIA_low[1] Georgia Pisconeri was born and raised in Perth, Western Australia and began her dance training at the Perth School of Ballet. Georgia graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing arts with a Bachelor of Arts (Dance) in 2010. Training in both Contemporary and Ballet, Georgia’s time at WAAPA has given her the privilege of working with such choreographers as Nanette Hassall, Sally Blachford, Aimee Smith, Melanie Lane, Sue Peacock and Anton. In her final year at WAAPA, Georgia choreographed her own work for the student works season, which was selected and performed at the Dolphin Theatre at UWA. Georgia was also selected to travel to the United States (2010), to take part in a summer intensive workshop in Madison, Wisconsin and perform at the World Dance Alliance in New York. In 2011 Georgia worked and performed in new development works by Scott Ewen and Emma Fishwick in Struts “short cuts” season. Georgia is excited to be a member of LINK Dance Company 2012, and looks forward to expanding her knowledge and experience in the field of dance.

Kye Maurer

KYE_low[1] Kye begun dancing at the age of 7, learning only jazz and tap then at 11 began training in contemporary and classical ballet at Francessca Louise Academy of Performing Arts, in Wauchope. During his high-school years he was part of the NSW Public schools regional dance ensemble, Ballet ensemble, and Schools Spectacular.In 2009, he began his study at the Western Australian Academy of performing Arts in Perth with an Advanced Diploma of Performing Arts in Dance. During these 3 years he has worked with Kim McCarthy, Jo Funaki, Amaury Lebrun and Eve Lawson. Kye has performed with the West Australian Ballet Company for their productions of “Sleeping Beauty”, By Marcia Haydee and “Taming of the Shrew” by John Cranko, the opening ceremony of CHOGM 2011 (Commonwealth Heads Of Government Meeting) and for Les Ballet C de La B in their performance of “Out of Context-for Pina” in the Perth International Arts Festival. This year he recently performed with West Australian Opera in their production of “The Pearl Fishers”. After graduating from LINK this year he will perform with STRUT in Jean Claude-Gallotta’s 3G, then tour Europe and America.

Sinead Harte

SINEAD_low[1] Sinead is 20 years old and started dancing at Sefton Dance Academy when she was 4 where she received training in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Slow Modern and Acrobatics.  Sinead received an Arts scholarship for her highschool, Greenwood College and has completed numerous CSTD exams. She didn’t see dance as a career until her high school dance teacher Kelly Fitt, encouraged her to audition for WAAPA. She was successful in her application and has since graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, Dance. Sinead has worked with choreographers such as Rhainnon Newton, Felicity Bott, Dean Walsh, Matthew Morris, Sue Peacock and Xiaoxiong Zhang. Sinead hopes to pursue a career in either contemporary or commercial dance.
